“When we were looking for a builder an architect in town told us that Don was the most honest man he knew- and that he would build us a home that was not only solid, but it would also be on time and under budget.  All true statements.

Don sees the house through the owners’ eyes- how we were going to use it and how some modifications would make it better for us.  We think all of Don’s houses have a unique look to them. They are not cookie cutter. His creativity in using repurposed materials to their best sets them apart. There seems to be a “Smith” standard that he holds himself accountable to. This made building long distance such a breeze.  

That standard of excellence was also evident in his crew. I think this is an often underestimated piece of the building process. We were so impressed with every crew member and subcontractor. They seemed to hold Don in the same high regard that we do.

Finally, and probably most importantly, working with Don is a lot of fun. His good humor permeates the entire project. We never felt stressed or worried about anything. We know that he did, but his ability to put the building process in perspective was something that made this such a stress free and completely joyous process.”
