Paonia Farmhouse
Paonia, CO
This home is a great example of when design and natural building technology come together to create a home that requires minimal energy to heat or to cool. SmithWorks uses natural climate control design techniques that minimize the need for mechanical heating and cooling. This home has large over hangs for outdoor living and summertime shading, windows are placed for cross ventilation. The straw clay walls keep the home cool in the summer and warm in the winter. The earthen plaster with exposed timber frame fit the farm setting perfectly.
